tom at hwt eventFood, farming and nature are featuring in this month's County Council election demands - and promises.

 Herefordshire Wildlife Trust, Herefordshire CPRE, Friends of the Upper Wye and Friends of the Lower Wye are calling for new allotment sites to be established - at least 50 plots, plus rewards for farmers shifting to 'sustainable and regenerative methods of production'.  More about the Hustings that was convened, and the pledges of the panel that attended, here.

The Save the Wye coalition of Friends groups and citizen scientists are calling for 'river-friendly farming' to be prioritised in the Local Plan and Economic Development work plus a priority in procurement. They also call for  rural regeneration initiatives that enable farmers to diversify away from phosphate-heavy farming.  More about their manifesto here.

 

 

 


Who we Are

The Herefordshire Food Charter is an initiative of the Herefordshire Food Alliance, a network of individuals and organisations from across the county involved in local, community and sustainable food action.

The Alliance is a member of the national Sustainable Food Places network and is co-ordinated by New Leaf Sustainable Development with support from Herefordshire Council and Sustainable Food Places.
