"A very warm welcome to all our future volunteers that we met at in April, May and June at open days and events or at the recent HVOSS Volunteer Fair, it's fantastic to have you on board!. We had hoped to have set up regular volunteer days by now, and my apologies to those of you hoping to properly get your spades in this June. We are a little delayed as we continue to plan and scope out our first steps to cultivation, and as we eagerly await the start of Katie our new grower. We have decided for the time being to offer a few ad hoc volunteer days and sessions in order to meet the Growing Local team and take part in each stage of our early development. We plan to start our regular volunteer days as soon as feasibly possible.

Our first session is next Wednesday afternoon (all details above). At this session we will be focusing on the soil - worm counts, checking for wire worm, using a soil auger and carrying out various soil analysis tests. We also hope to mark out the future market garden growing beds and exactly where the educational garden will be. Please do join us if you can. Note that we do not have any toilet facilities yet. As soon as the site is secured with fencing we'll install a temporary portaloo until our compost toilets are constructed."
