Herefordshire is a Sustainable Food Place - as a county- wide alliance we are a member of the network driving innovation and best practice on all aspects of healthy and sustainable food. It's a programme led by the Soil Association, Food Matters and Sustain: the alliance for better food and farming.
The Sustainable Food Places Awards are designed to recognise and celebrate the success of those places taking a joined up, holistic approach to food and that are achieving significant positive change on a range of key food issues.
We are eligible to apply for a Bronze award this year - and we're gathering all the evidence we can to show what Herefordshire has already done, and what it can do more of!
From creating a broad alliance, to building a Food Plan, to all the many who have already signed up to the Food Charter - not to mention all the food events that happen around the county supporting and building local food.
Please get in touch with the work you know of happening in Herefordshire towards the vision:
"a thriving, healthy and environmentally benign local food economy, where those on low incomes and in rural areas have access to affordable, healthy food; where food production, processing and distribution systems contribute to landscape and wildlife diversity, minimise waste and consider the impacts of climate change; and where local communities are actively engaged in healthy living and have an increased understanding of the links between food and personal and planetary well-being."
Sign up to the food charter and keep building the movement!
