Herefordshire Food Charter. Healthy food for people, place and planet

wakelyns farm from sustain websiteDo you know your Local Plan from your Supplementary Planning Documents?

Can you match a policy document with what's good for Herefordshire food?

The Food Alliance has broad aims and members, and is a growing voice.  We'd like to be able to respond more - maybe as a group or even just informed individuals - to the consultations on planning and other county-wide policy that affect how we produce and manage our food here in Herefordshire.

Here are a couple of examples:

Local: The Minerals and Waste Local Plan Herefordshire has some modifications which are being consulted on until 21st August

National: The Government has published proposed changes to permitted development rights that allow agricultural diversification and development.  They are also asking for evidence about nature friendly farming.  This has an eight week deadline.

Alliance Coordinator Rebecca has created asimple summary of the draft Local Plan for Herefordshire and associated documents, and the timeline of its progress.  Have a look at that to get an overview.

If this is something you already know something about, and you share the Alliance passion for a thriving, healthy and environmentally benign local food economy, please be in touch.

If this kind of thing sends you to sleep, other ways of being involved in the Food Alliance are here!
