Short, strong and resilient supply chains and a thriving local food economy are key to this.
To do this, Powys are exploring the concept of a food loop selling wholesale, local food on a business to business basis - our ambition would be to work
towards a Marches-wide loop. Members would place orders online once a week with local food producers and the produce is delivered to their premises on an electric vehicle. Producers would upload products and set prices as items were available.
Food Loop members could be growers, farmers, or food producers like bakeries, ice cream makers etc.
In the West Country this is already a working model. There's a great little video here that really brings the concept to life.
