Herefordshire Food Charter. Healthy food for people, place and planet

1We've pulled together all the various brilliant activities as part  of the Autumn's Picking and Preserving activities.

A huge thank you for what we've achieved!

Whether that be... picking apples, making juice, chopping apples, providing bottles, crates, space to store fruit, a supportive producer with excess who doesn't want to see it going to waste, entertaining with music at an event or being one of the amazing community groups, food banks or community larders we have supported.

There are countless ways I have not mentioned that you have helped and together we have done amazing work. Please share the flyer to your networks or print out and stick up on your community noticeboard and celebrate what we have done!

Together we have:

  • Stopped over half a tonne of food from going to waste, including apples, damsons and pumpkins and milk!
  • Made 100 litres of juice and frozen 30kg of apple
  • Supported 4 different charities to help those in food poverty in Herefordshire
  • Engaged 35 volunteers in gleaning and processing activities
  • Connected 14 different organisations, businesses and community groups
  • Formed the Herefordshire Gleaning Network

With big thanks to the National Lottery Community Fund for making this all possible.

Connect with us to join the Herefordshire Gleaning Network whatsapp group to hear about gleaning opportunities in the area

Connect with local community groups who might be able to distribute food to those in food poverty.

Plan more community processing days - do you have access to a space that would be good for a juicing day or processing day? Get in touch and we can talk you through what is involved.

Thank you once again and we hope to see you again in 2024!
