"Basically what we're doing here is trying to stop writing out cheques to people. Using the sun and the soil..."
It was such a pleasure to be taken around Billy's award winning Herefordshire farm. The Farm Carbon Toolkit's Soil Farmer of the Year at 25 years old - the whole thing was an inspiration!
Through changing some of their farming methods for methods that 'regenerate' the soil, the farm has more than halved its nitrogen fertiliser use, which has meant a drastic drop in outgoings and a big increase to the health of the soil.
Check out this rocket...
The Pedicargo gang are now trialling food waste collection and feeding this beast - the Tidy Planet Rocket Composter. The rocket speedily breaks down food waste (collected by bike) into nutrient and microbe packed compost that can be put back into the soil right in the city it came from!

Clare and Phillippa from the Council's Health and Wellbeing teams are heading to the River Carnival this weekend for a few food waste demos.
The connection between food and the health of our rivers has become all too obvious recently so it's great to keep that connection going and explore how everyone can reduce the amount that's wasted in our kitchens, saving money too.
What they say:
"Some spuds. Half an onion. And various bits and bobs from the bottom of your fridge.
Those ingredients may not sound particularly appetising. But less-than-tantalising bits and bobs are all that’s needed to create a tasty meal. At least they are if you know what you are doing.
